Description

Panel begins at 8:30 am.
Civics in America is in crisis as is trust higher ed, yet in recent years a number of reform efforts have taken root that promise renewal both for civics and liberal arts education. New campus schools and centers dedicated to “civic thought” are taking off across the country, while significant general education reform efforts are underway as well. Both emphasize the importance of studying enduring primary source texts that ask fundamental questions. In this panel, leaders of these programs will talk about potential synergies and differences between these projects, as well as how they might contribute to a restoration of the academy’s social contract with America.
